Unggoy Broadband Teams up with Local Businesses Supporting Meals on Wheels

This is a wonderful time of year – a time to be thankful for the many blessings we all share being a part of such inspired communities. In the spirit of the holiday season, Unggoy Broadband is teaming up with local businesses to provide support for Meals on Wheels of Charles City, New Hampton, Nashua and the surrounding communities on December 7th, 2015.

Meals on Wheels began in 1953 as an idea to help reduce the number of homes needed for the elderly. The first 8 meals went out on August 9th 1954. Today, hundreds of thousands meals are delivered annually. Meals on Wheels is not only a meal but it’s also about companionship that many participants develop with the volunteers. It is also a sense of security for most and can provide welfare checks to many elderly individuals.

The dedicated volunteers of the Meals on Wheels organization in Charles City, New Hampton, Nashua and the surrounding communities spend hundreds of hours a year delivering lunch every day to approximately 200 homes. Without the volunteers, these folks would go without a meal.

We believe our local Meals on Wheels volunteers deserve a break! Along with the support from local businesses including the Comet Bowl of Charles City, Mike Molstead Motors of Charles City, Tom Rouse – State Farm Insurance of Charles City, CUSB Bank of Charles City, Family Community Credit Union of Charles City, Luana Savings Bank of New Hampton, Material Magic of New Hampton and First State Bank of Nashua, we’re able to relieve the volunteers on December 7th, taking over food preparation and meal delivery.
