There are many things that can contribute to a slow internet connection.  Here is some advice from our technicians to ensure that you have optimum speed with your Unggoy Service.

Slow Speeds?

Your computer's resources, like processor speed, memory, etc. may reduceyour internet speed if they are old and inadequate.  If you think this may be the case, try testing things on an updated device.

Outdated devices

Multiple programs using the internet at the same time, like watching Netflix, YouTube, streaming music, downloading movies, running computer updates, surfing the web...these applications all consume some of your speed so if you have several open at one time, you might see a lag in speeds.

multiple applications

Viruses, malware, 'free' toolbars, browser add-ons can sometimes consume speeds and effect your computer and internet speeds.  Making sure your devices are secure and protected from viruses will help to prevent this issue.

Viruses and Malware

The evening hours are like rush hour for the internet.  Particularly from the hours of 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.  Increased traffic on the network can impact speeds.  We build our network to try avoid this issue but sometimes during these times speeds will decrease.

Peak network times

For the 'techie' folks, we recommend using a single band 802.11n (wireless-N) series router and set with WPA2/AES encryption.

For the 'lay' person...we suggest a router that begins with 'N' in the model number.  For example 'N300' is a common model number that works well.  You can always call us for more assistance!
